The trials behind the numbers
Nine trained cyclists rode in 34 °C heat until they could not go on. When they swilled a menthol solution every 10 minutes, eight of the nine went further, and on average they rode 9% longer.
Their body temperature was the same either way. What changed was how hard it felt.

Eleven runners ran 5 km three times in 33 °C: once with a menthol mouth rinse, once after eating ice slurry, once with nothing.
The menthol rinse made them 2.7% faster. Ice slurry lowered their body temperature, but did not make them any faster.

Twelve cyclists and triathletes rode 20 km in tropical heat, drinking 190 ml every 5 km. This is the trial closest to Air, because the menthol was in the drink.
With menthol in the drink they were about 5% faster. The best result came from the menthol drink served ice cold: 10% faster than room-temperature water.

Malic acid sits in the cycle your cells use to turn food into fuel, so this form goes where the energy is made. That is why it is the largest share of the blend.

Most magnesium never crosses the blood-brain barrier. L-threonate is the form shown to get through, and the one studied for focus and memory. It is also the most expensive form on the sheet, so most brands leave it out.
